Super Junior
Super Junior is a boyband brought together in 2005 as Super Junior 05 by SMEntertainment. It consists of 13 members, plus two sub group members (Zhou Mi and Henry, pictured sep. above). They currently have 12 active members, including sub group members. In age order; Leeteuk (leader), Heechul (on military leave), Hangeng (disolved contract with company), Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Zhou Mi (Super Junior M), Ryeowook, Kibum (hiatus; acting), Kyuhyun, Henry (Super Junior M). They debuted officially to their single, “Twins (Knockout)”. Their career breakthrough came in the form of their most well-known single “Sorry, Sorry”. Super Junior has 4 sub groups; Super Junior-T (for Trot, the oldest form of korean pop music), Super Junior-Happy, Super Junior KRY (Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung, the lead singers), Super Junior-M (for Mandarin, a form of the Chinese language), and Super Junior Donghae and Eunhyuk. Out of these, Super Junior-M has done the best album wise, and the idea of subgroups started here. Super Junior currently has 5 studio albums, and has hosted 4 successful solo group concerts, which has spread throughout Asia and beyond. Their fans are called ‘ELFs’ for ‘Everlasting Friends’. |
